Nielsen tells the referee in between rounds that he cannot see out of his
left eye. The fight is stopped to the huge disappointment of the largely
Danish crowd and the bemusement of Tyson.
Round six:
Nielsen grows in confidence, throwing a few combinations as Tyson comes
within range. The Dane also takes every opportunity to hold onto the
American whenever he can.
Tyson strikes again with 30 seconds left, catching his opponent with a
thudding right. The Dane looks shaky but somehow manages to come back with a
couple of shots of his own.
Round five:
Tyson is showing definite signs of slowing down. Much of the fighting takes
place in the centre of the ring, suggesting that Nielsen is beginning to
impose himself.
But with 30 seconds left, the Dane staggers after being caught by a left. He
survives yet again, and Tyson trudges back to his corner a little
disconsolately.
Round four:
The fight follows a similar pattern, with Nielsen trying to absorb
everything that Tyson throws at him.
The Dane even manages a bit of showboating, perhaps sensing that his
opponent is starting to tire.
Round three:
After some frantic work in his corner to stem the flow of blood, Nielsen is
greeted with yet another series of heavy body punches from Tyson at the
start of the round.
The Dane refuses to be overawed and comes back with one or two blows of his
own.
But with 30 seconds left, he is floored for only the second time in his
career as Tyson. Nielsen gets to his feet but then is sent reeling by a low
blow.
The referee says Nielsen, who is left clutching his groin, will get five
minutes to recover before the fight must resume.
Round two:
Nielsen is forced onto the back foot again but is happy to trade shots with
Tyson. The Dane is not known as a big puncher but unleashes one or two
impressive body shots with his swinging left.
Tyson changes tack and decides to stalk his opponent rather than burn
himself out. He still manages to open up a nasty cut over Nielsen's left eye
right at the end of the round.
Round one:
Tyson goes on the offensive straight from the bell, launching a flurry of
body shots plus a tasty uppercut into his opponent.
Nielsen, deciding to take up a position on the ropes, absorbs the punches
well. The Dane revealed before the fight that he planned to soak up the
early pressure and come good in the later rounds.
Tyson takes a breather before attempting to cut Nielsen down to size with
some vicious head shots. But a gutsy Nielsen survives the first round
intact.
