| Where to buy Performa 5200 battery? Fra : Chris Adams |
Dato : 07-02-05 01:24 |
|
Does anyone know where I can buy a new PRAM battery for a Performa
5200CD?
It is a Rayovac 840, 4.5V, alkaline battery - a big square thing
attached to the logic board with velcro. I believe a Rayovac 841 or 844
will also work.
Any suppliers in the København area, or mail order?

Hei Chris
You don't need the Reyovac battery, - only a similar type...
If you haven't already got a 4.5v alkaline battery for your Performa
5200, you can contact me, I have a lot of the original battery type
available in stock. My price is 75Dkr. including postal payment....
My email address is <5410451m001_NOS@PAM_stofanet.dk> - Just remove the

A member of this group, named Erik Richard Sørensen, used to have some.
If he still has, I don´t know. You might want to find his phonenumber
and mailadress by looking back in threats of any kind.

Ja, ja, Mogens - undskyld - gad ikke slå det efter, han forstår
sikkert godt, jeg mener treads, tror du ikke, he, he? Og så er det altså
snart tredive år siden, jeg havde engelsk på HF.
Ret beset skulle det vel også hedde "whether" i anden linie, istedet for
"if"?
M.
P.S. ".......often replaced by "if" in colloq. style except when there
is possible confusion with a true conditional clause......." Så det kan
altså godt blive stående

He's still here on a daily basis. I think he's changed his e-mail
address. That's why, you can't find him after 2003. Unfortunately, he's
going to have surgery on his shoulder, and I think he's just said
goodbye to the group yesterday. I don't know, when he'll be back.
The battery in question can be found on the internet, but not in
Denmark. At least one of the shops is in UK, so that should not take
long to have it send here. It's not cheap, I know.

If you have a soldering iron, you could just solder together 3 1.5V AA
batteries and reuse the wire and connector from the old battery.

I do have an iron, so I could try that. Excuse the dumb question, but do
you connect together all the positive terminals with one wire and all
the negative ones with the other? Is it OK to roughen the terminals with
sandpaper so the solder sticks?

No no. That'll only give you 1.5 Volts, but it will last three times as
long. You'll have to put the positive terminal of one battery to the
negative terminal of another. That is three batteries in a row. That'll
give you 1.5 + 1.5 + 1.5 = 4.5 Volts. But I think it would be easier to
buy a 4.5 Volts battery. They are small and square, and you'd only have
to solder one battery to the motherboard.

I found two 4.5V at www.batterier.dk, but neither look square:
3R12U 4,5V Panasonic Brunsten m/ bladfjeder
Billede: http://www.batterier.dk/billeder/3R12U.jpg
PX-19 4,5V Alkaline
Billede: http://www.batterier.dk/billeder/PX-19A.jpg
Would one of those work? Would any 4.5V battery be OK?

Perhaps it's a little too big.

I thought more of something like a 3LR12, which is very small. But I
think, any 4.5 Volt battery will work, as long as you make it fit.

To get to 4.5V, the batteries have to be connected in series, positive
to negative in a chain. The old battery has a red and a black wire, the
red connects to the remaining + and the black to -. There is no need to
use alkaline, the power draw is very low. Solder stick just fine if it
is fresh, ie. put the tip of the solder between the battery and the
iron. Later the wire can be connected.

As you can see, I'm back again... I was thrown out from the hospital
yesterday's morning, because of 14 urgent cases, so they had to get all
beds free, which they could. - And the doctor told me that the surgery
went just as fine, as it could, so I could move home again, - but no
liftings for the next couple of weeks. - But gosh! the pain in the
shoulder bone is harsh...!

But look at the bright side. Now you'll learn the fine art of clapping
with one hand. And you'll find out, how hard it is to wash your hands or
your hair using only one hand. And if it is your dominant arm, that
hurts, you'll also find it quite amusing to comb you hair or brush your
teeth using the wrong arm. It's easier to hold the toothbrush still and
move you head. Quite funny to look at, my wife normally says, when I
fall on my shoulder and break my collar bone.

OK, but here I use the same style as the billiard players - just
snapping the fingers.

Dominating or not dominating... I am partially left-handed, so it indeed
is a handicap for me...

He he.. bet it would look very funny, but here I'm more modern, since
I use an electric toothbrush.

Hei Chris
Tha't might be because I've been forced to change my ISP accouunt
because of apprx. 12-1300 spam mails a day.
So you can either contact me on <5410451m001_NOS@PAM_stofanet.dk> or

the addresses valid.
And as said in another posting I have the batteries in stock to 75Dkr.
incl. postal payment.

I think it would be cheaper for you simply to get a complete Mac with
that battery inside.

to the recycling station.
I can't remember how many Macs that use a 4.5 volt battery, but it's a
few.
