Canon 300D and Nikon D70 are way better than either.

Not true - it all depends on the quality of the lens used in the DSLR cam.

The lens that comes along with the D70 and EOS300D is quality wise not
better than the lens on the more expensive prosumer digicam like Oly C8080,
Sony 828, Canon pro 1 - in fact the lens on the EOS300D (18-55 mm)
might very well be slightly inferior to lenses found on the more expensive
prosumer non DSLR cams.

You really have to buy yourself a quality lens to get the most out of a
DSLR digicam, before you can conclude that DSLR cams are superior in every
way to non DSLR cams.
