i have been using a friends firewire-burner (i think it's a LACIE) for
the last couple month to back up stuff to cd-roms - always without the
least problem. last week i tried to do that again, but i couldn't get
the drive to accept ANY blank disc. whenever i put a blank disc into the
drive, it would open after about 3-4 seconds, along with a system
message telling me to 'insert a blank disc'.
my setup is my PB G3 500, OSX 10.2.6, Toast Titanium 5.1.2 and, as
mentioned above, a LACIE firewire-burner. at first i tried a couple
different blank CDs, because i experienced once in a while a
corrupt/broken blank CD, but this time i tried 5 different blanks, all
without success.
i experimented a little, and found out that a) my machine didn't burn
from iTunes either, and b) when i disconnected my machine from the
burner, it would 'spit out' every CD i put in, opening the tray after
about 3-4 seconds - even when the drive was empty, it wouldn't remain
closed.
did anyone experience a similar problem? i really hope i'm not the only
one, and that i find a way to fix this 'conflict' somehow?
