Jeg har modtaget følgende henvendelse. Er der nogen i gruppen der kan
hjælpe??

Sir,

I am the son of a Danish citizen named Karl Georg Norgaard. My father was
born in Copenhagen, Denmark in 1913 and died in the North Sea in 1952. His
mother was Olga Christensen (married name) who lived in Denmark. He died
while my parents were seperated and was born out of wedlock. I have never
been able to determne who his father was so I may trace my heritage. I have
no idea how my father got the name Norgaard.

I believe my grandmother had several sisters named Hille Jogenson, Hilda
Enslav (all married names) and another sister whose name I do not have.

Mr. Christensen was my grandmother's husband after the birth of my father.
He was a horse handler and they lved together in Denamrk. Any information
you may have about Olga Christensen, her husband, or my father would be
greatly appreciated.

Also if you have any suggestions on how to find my father's birth
certificate
it would also be greatly appreciated.

My mother still speaks Danish so any response would be appreciated.

Thank you,

Gary K. Norgaard

try and find out from your mother
(1)

What parish he was born in - as the records are divided up in that way

(2)

Where was he living in 1920 /1 ?
That census is searchable in MSS at the Danish National Archive
and is of very high quality and will have date and place of birth and much detail

It is not indexed but arranged by census place
that is town or village
and alphabetically by street so if you can get an address from old letters or postcards I will have a look for you.

My daughter's great grandfather never told his children and grand children much - one told me he was a foundling - but from the
census I got his date and place of birth and with help from some group members here that line has been partially traced back to
1790

Not much of Danish geneaolgy is indexed on line yet so it will be a matter of searching archives.

So if not too difficult SKS might help, or you will have to pay a professional.

(3)

The date and place of the Christensen marriage would also a be a big help

(4) what date did he leave Denmark ?

(5)

to where and what ship ?

shipping lists have a next of kin
and many are searchable on line with images too.

(6) what are the details of his death in 1952
if under UK jurisdiction htere will be a death certificate - for example

(7) Copenhagen has a collection of "Midwife post cards" which are private because of medical information but if asked nicely som
one LAK will go back stairs and have a look and get place and dateof birth

About 70 parishes in Copenhagen so details are vital or you will have to pay a professional a lot of money to read them all

(8) what documantation have you '
old passport
citizenship papers
letters
photographs
search them all for clues

(9) what was your fathers employment record ?
trade
jobs
profession
qualification

good luck
