The news we've been waiting for is finally in - Lord Of The Rings is due for
release in the UK on August 6th in all the variations of the US set. The
lineup begins with the anamorphic 2.35:1 widescreen version, which will
retail at £24.99. It features 5.1 Dolby EX Surround and 2.0 Stereo Surround
with English subtitles and closed captions as well as a second disc
containing 158 minutes of features. The Full Frame version is not to be
released in Europe. The extras listed are as follows:

c.. Quest For the Ring: Fox Network TV Special
d.. The Path To Middle Earth: Sci-Fi Channel TV Special

h.. Enya's May It Be music video
i.. EA Video Game preview
j.. Preview of the extended version DVD presented by Peter Jackson
After that comes the Extended cut version on November 12 which will contain
30 minutes of extra footage on a £29.99 four disc set. Discs 1 & 2 will
contain the extended cut of the film, presented in 6.1 Dolby Digital EX
Surround, 2.0 Stereo Surround and in a surprise announcement that wasn't
included on the US press material, a full 6.1 ES DTS track. Discs 3 & 4 will
contain six hours of original supplementary material, full details to
follow.
Also on November 12 comes the Collector's Box Set Four at £44.99. This is
the same as the above set but includes exclusive 'Argonath bookends'
together with a host of other superb additions which will be announced at a
later date.
