Is there someone who knows how you can easily read data from your parallel
port? I'm stuck. I can find 1000 examples of applications that access the
serial port but none that access the parallel port.

Sorry but I use this API allready but it isn't that simple. The parallel
port isn't well enough supported. I can find enough examples of parallel
port programs that use this API that write to the parallel port but no
examples that read from it. I have searched endlessly but didn't find
anything.

Ahh okay, I misunderstod you.
I have used that API a little my self, but only the serial-part.
But as far as I can read in the API, you can replace SerialPort with
ParallelPort in all your examples.
Honestly I can't see what your problem is. As I read the API, it is
straight forward, an the parallelport should work just as the serial
counterpart.
If it's because your are unfamilliar with Java as a hole, then you
probably should start with something simpler.

I know what my problem is. I used the API perfectly but it seems that my
parallel port doesn't support reading. Strange like hell and very annoying
because I have to write an application that reads from it

Check your BIOS-settings. You need ECP or EPP capability.
Standard/Normal is write-only.

I changed it but it gives me the same results. Something with the parallel
port driver maybe. I heard that many drivers don't support reading. That's
just nice...
