Vi fik for et stykke tid siden fat på et lille script til MRTG, der kunne
vise os hvor meget trafik der løber gennem vores gateway (uden brug af
snmpd .. lækkert)
Scriptet læser fra /proc/net/dev
Det sjove er, at vi i stort set hele den tid vi har kørt med det (og før
det med snmpd) har obsereveret noget ret underligt mht. mngden af trafik
der kommer gennem netkortene.

Det ser ud som om der kommer dobbelt så meget ind på det eksterne ben som
der kommer ud af det interne ben.
Tidligere havde vi to RT8139-baserede kort i maskinen, og der var
problemet det samme. Vi er så nu begyndt at spekulere på om det kunne
være en funktion i kernen der evt. sender forkerte oplysninger til
/proc/net/dev
Maskinen er netop i dag blevet opgraderet fra kerne 2.4.0-ac12 til 2.4.3
uden nogen ændring i logning af trafik.
Maskinen kører redHat6.2 med opgraderede utils som nævnt i Changes til
kernen)
Der kører en transperant proxy på maskinen (squid). Vi anvender iptables
til at forwarde net (og redirecte port 80 trafik til proxy'en på samme
maskine)
vis nogen mener at de gerne vil se vores iptables-script skal de bare
sige til .. det samme hvis anden info ønskes :)
