pp. 178-179 of Sven CedergreenBech's "Storens By: Københavns Historie," bind (volume) 3, 1728-1830. Publication data: København,
Danmark, Gyldendal, c1981.
The gist of of it is that Pierre Frontin was among a group of Frenchmen recruited by the Danish king to help oversee commerce.
He married Elisabeth Fistaine, daughter of another Frenchman. In 1760 Pierre was brought before a city
court and accused of of spousal abuse of the most flagrant kind. He was a wife-beater, and a doctor testified to the wife's
condition after being beaten.
Pierre was sentenced to two years of hard labor and a fine. He rejected the sentence, saying that since he was a royal civil
servant, the municipal court had no jurisdiction over him.
A royal court's jury upheld the finding of guilt but waffled on his punishment.
Eventually he was deemed too important a man to be put to hard labor. (In other words, Pierre
got off and held his civil service job until 1767.)"
He seems to have disappeared in 1770. I wonder if there's a mention in police records or somewhere else.
desvære jeg er sygmeldt i England og kan ikke komme igang i LAK eller RA
er der nogen at vid noget om ham ?
