To All of You:
Now, I have a new ambition to write a good scalable website to post
all my friends' lives. On my new website home page, I will have a
list of all my friends about 50 so far. Each name on this list will
link to this person's individual page which contains this person's
photos with some description.
Supposedly, this is not a complex web design. However, from my
previous website experience, I feel that it runs a bit slow in a 1 GHz
CPU computer with 256MB memory. My previous website composed by
FrontPage with 35 web pages uses a traditional approach. From its home
page, it links to each individual page with one to four photos and
description. The speed of loading this website is still acceptable.
I worry about the speed of loading my new website. If my new website
consists more web pages and photos or graphic, its loading time would
be terrible slow. Therefore, I am looking for a new approach to
design my new website.
My new approach in my thought is to first load my website's home page
with its content and the rest of the website's sub pages without their
content. Until my visitor clicks a name on my friend list on my home
page, an individual empty web page of the person whose name clicked is
presented on the screen and the data of that person then is loaded
onto this empty web page from a database.
I have some database experience.
My thought of the new approach may not be practical from your point of
view.
My questions to you:
1) Would it be possible to design a website like my thought
above?
2) Can FrontPage handle this task?
3) Do you have any practical suggestion that works for me to head
to? like
Any sources - books may help?
Any other web programming language or tool can do?
Any other method in web designing can help me to achieve my
thought?
4) How can I store pictures or graphic in the database?
Please, help me.
I really appreciate your advanced technical help.
I need all of you to help!
Thank you for your time and effort!
