SARS og katte *info* engelsk

A week ago there was a flurry of interest after a civet was found with
SARS. It was universally denied by all experts that cats could harbour the
SARS coronavirus.

The Guardian newspaper has this article
http://www.guardian.co.uk/life/dispatch/story/0,12978,970365,00.html
In which it says that Erasmus University in Rotterdam has applied for
approval to use cats to reseach SARS. The US Center for Disease Control in
Atlanta and the Workd Heath Organistion is also taking an interest.

"The domestic cat could land a starring role in the future course of
severe acute respiratory syndrome (Sars). Experts have identified it as
a potential animal model that could be used to investigate the disease.
The only animal model currently available is the macaque monkey, which
is expensive to use. But some pet cats in the Amoy Gardens apartment
block in Hong Kong, where more than 100 residents contracted Sars in
April, were found to harbour and become infected by the virus."

This is a two sided research plan. On the one side, if cats are found after
all to be susceptable to SARS, then we have another problem on our hands.
The good side is that it may result in further research into coronavituses
and FCoV in particular..
